Carl’s Challenge

The National Three Peaks, by bike, for Bobby

In September 2026, Carl will take on one hell of a challenge, completing the National Three Peaks whilst cycling between each mountain.

That means around 450 gruelling miles by bike, plus climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. It’s one of the toughest endurance challenges imaginable, and Carl is doing it for a reason far bigger than himself.

Why Carl is doing this

Carl has never really done serious cycling or mountain climbing before. But what he does have is determination, heart, and a reason that matters.

This challenge is for Bobby.

Carl and Bobby were best friends from nursery. Their friendship was lifelong, unbreakable, and full of memories. So this isn’t just about mountains, miles, or medals. This is about grief, love, loyalty, and making Bobby proud every single step and pedal of the way.

And whatever happens… just trying is already enough.

The route

Carl will begin the challenge in early September, starting at Ben Nevis, before cycling south to Scafell Pike and then on to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

Along the way, Carl will be joined and supported by friends, family and sponsors on parts of the mountains and cycling routes. But the full challenge, every mountain, every mile and every painful pedal stroke, will be completed by Carl himself.

The finish line

If all goes to plan, Carl will finish at Deepdale Stadium on Friday 25th September 2026, exactly one year to the day that we lost Bobby.

His favourite place.
His home team.
His home.

We’re inviting everyone to come down to Deepdale on the 25th to clap Carl over the finish line, cheer him home, and celebrate Bobby’s life together.

And then, the following night, we’ll come together again at Bobby’s Ball… with what we imagine will be a very sore Carl.

The charities we’re supporting

Heartbeat North West Cardiac Care

Heartbeat is a charity very close to Bobby’s heart. Based at Deepdale Stadium, the home of Preston North End, it supports families affected by heart conditions and was a charity that helped Bobby and continues to support his family.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

CRY is especially close to Bobby’s daughter and young nephews. They provide free heart screenings nationwide, helping detect conditions that too often go unnoticed due to lack of awareness and funding.

Our fundraising goal

Together with Bobby’s Ball, the aim is to raise £35,000, £1,000 for every precious year of Bobby’s life, in his memory.

The money raised will go to two incredible charities.
